    इंटरनेट हे सध्याज्या जगातील सर्वांत महत्वाचे साधन बनलेले आहे. आज आपण इंटरनेटचा वापर विविध कारणासाठी करत आहोत. असा एकही दिवस नसतो की ज्या दिवशी आपण इंटरनेटचा वापर केला नाही.इंटरनेट शिकण्याचे नविन माहिती मिळवण्याचे साधन बनलेले आहे. आपण वेगवेगळी माहिती इंटरनेट च्या मदतीने शिकू शकतो.इंटरनेट आपल्या दैनंदिन जीवनाचा एक अविभाज्य भाग बनलेले आहे. शिक्षण आणि माहितीची देवाण-घेवाण करण्यासाठी फार मोठ्या प्रमाणात इंटरनेटचा वापर आज केला जात आहे. ज्ञानाचा अमुल्या स्त्रोत म्हणून आपण इंटरनेट कडे पहतो. इंटरनेट वर माहिती शोधत असताना अथवा माहिती घेत असताना इतरांचा आदर ठेवणे देखील महत्वाचे असते. इंटरनेट चा वापर करताना शिष्टाचार पाळला जावा. ही अपेक्षा असते त्यालाच नेटीकेट (इंटरनेट शिष्टाचार) असे म्हणतात. असे इंटरनेट वापरत असताना कोणत्या गोष्टी कराव्यात व कोणत्या करू नयेत याविषयी आपण माहिती पाहूया.   

The Internet has become one of the most important tools in the world today. Today we are using the internet for a variety of reasons. There is not a single day that you do not use the Internet. The Internet has become a tool for learning new information. We can learn different information with the help of internet. Internet has become an integral part of our daily life.

The Internet is widely used today for education and the exchange of information. We look to the Internet as an invaluable source of knowledge. It is also important to respect others when searching for or retrieving information on the Internet. Etiquette should be followed while using the internet. This expectation is called netiquette (internet etiquette). Let's take a look at what to do and what not to do when using the Internet.

 DO’s

1. Respect the privacy of others.

2. Report and flag content that is abusive or illegal.

3. Adhere to copyright restrictions when downloading material
from the Internet, including software, games, movies, or music.

4. Use an alias/ alternate name as username when you interact/ chat with others online.

5. Report online bullying immediately to the teacher and parents/ or someone whom you trust.

6. Use a strong and unique password with combinations of  numbers, uppercase and lowercase letter and special characters for each account(s).

7. Keep the browser, operating system and antivirus up-to-date.

8. Obtain software from trusted sources. Always scan files before opening them.

9. Lock your screen when you're finished using your computer/  tablet/ phone. Further, set it to lock automatically when it goes to sleep.

10. Check to see if the web address begins with https:// whenever you sign in online.

11. Make privacy settings in social media accounts in such a way that profile and posts are visible only to close friends and acquaintances.

12. Connect only with known individuals.

13. Be mindful of your digital reputation - think twice before you post something embarrassing, harmful or inappropriate.

14. Report to the service provider immediately if the account is hacked. If possible deactivate your account.

DON’Ts

1. Don't share your personal information: real name, date of birth, phone number etc. unnecessarily.

2. Don't send your pictures to unknown persons or share them on social media.
3. Don't open emails and attachments from strangers.
4. Don‛t respond to any suspicious email, instant message or web page asking for personal information.
5. Don't enter a password when someone is sitting beside you as they may see it.
6. Don‛t share your password with anyone.
7. Don't save your username and password on the browser.
8. Don't steal other‛s information.
9. Don‛t access or use files without the permission of the owner.
11. Don't bully others online by teasing, threatening, using rude or offensive language, making derogatory or hateful comments.
12. Don't use someone else‛s password even if it is shared with you.
13. Don't log in as someone else to read their emails or mess with their online profiles.
14. Don't attempt to infect or in any way try to make someone else‛s computer unusable.
15. Don‛t meet unknown (even if they are known only through online interaction) people alone; always inform an adult or a friend.
16. Don't open or download any attachments from an unknown source as they may contain viruses.

10. Don't copy software which has copyright without the author‛s permission.

हे करा- 

1. इंटरनेटचा वापर करताना इतरांच्या गोपनीयतेचा भावनांचा आदर करा.

2. अपमानास्पद किंवा बेकायदेशीर काही दिसेल तर लगेच त्याचा रिपोर्ट करा.

3. इंटरनेट वरून सॉफ्टवेअर, गेम, चित्रपट, संगीत,फाईल किंवा माहिती डाउनलोड करताना कॉपीराइट निर्बंधांचे पालन करा

4. जेव्हा तुम्ही इतरांशी ऑनलाईन संवाद साधता/ गप्पा मारता तेव्हा उपनाम/ पर्यायी नाव वापरकर्ता (User name) नाव म्हणून वापरा.

5. शिक्षक आणि पालक/ किंवा ज्यांच्यावर तुम्ही विश्वास ठेवता त्यांना त्वरित ऑनलाइन गुंडगिरीची किंवा अनुचित प्रकाराची माहिती द्या किंवा तक्रार करा.

6. प्रत्येक खात्यासाठी संख्या, अपरकेस आणि लोअरकेस अक्षरे आणि विशेष वर्णांच्या संयोगांसह एक मजबूत आणि अद्वितीय पासवर्ड वापरा.

7. ब्राउझर, ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम आणि अँटीव्हायरस अद्ययावत ठेवा.

8. विश्वसनीय स्त्रोतांकडून सॉफ्टवेअर मिळवा. फायली उघडण्यापूर्वी ते नेहमी स्कॅन करा.

9. संगणक/ टॅब्लेट/ फोन वापरणे पूर्ण झाल्यावर स्क्रीन लॉक करा. ऑटो लॉक सेट करा.

10. जेव्हा आपण ऑनलाइन साइन इन करता तेव्हा वेब पत्ता https: // ने सुरू होतो का ते तपासा.

11. सोशल मीडिया खात्यांमध्ये गोपनीयता सेटिंग्ज अशा प्रकारे बनवा की प्रोफाइल आणि पोस्ट फक्त जवळच्या मित्रांना आणि परिचितांनाच दिसतील.

12. केवळ ओळखीच्या व्यक्तींशी कनेक्ट व्हा.

13. तुमच्या डिजिटल प्रतिष्ठेबद्दल जागरूक रहा - तुम्ही काहीतरी लाजिरवाणे, हानिकारक किंवा अयोग्य पोस्ट करण्यापूर्वी दोनदा विचार करा.

14. खाते हॅक झाल्यास त्वरित सेवा प्रदात्यास कळवा. शक्य असल्यास तुमचे खाते निष्क्रिय करा. बंद करा.

हे करू नका- 

1. तुमची वैयक्तिक माहिती शेअर करू नका जसे तुमचे खरे नाव, जन्मतारीख, फोन नंबर इ.

2. तुमचे फोटो अज्ञात व्यक्तींना पाठवू नका किंवा त्यांना सोशल मीडियावर शेअर करू नका.

3. अनोळखी लोकांकडून ईमेल आणि पाठवलेल्या फाईल उघडू नका.

4. कोणत्याही संशयास्पद ईमेल, इन्स्टंट मेसेज किंवा वेबपृष्ठाला वैयक्तिक माहिती विचारण्यासाठी प्रतिसाद देऊ नका.

5. जेव्हा कोणी तुमच्या शेजारी बसला असेल तेव्हा पासवर्ड टाकू नका कारण ते तो पासवर्ड पाहू शकतात.

6. तुमचा पासवर्ड कोणाशीही शेअर करू नका.

7. तुमचे वापरकर्ता नाव (User Name)  आणि पासवर्ड ब्राउझरवर सेव्ह करू नका.

8. इतरांची माहिती चोरू नका.

9. ज्याची फाईल आहे त्याच्या परवानगीशिवाय फायलींमध्ये प्रवेश करू नका किंवा वापरू नका.

10. लेखकाच्या परवानगीशिवाय कॉपीराइट असलेले सॉफ्टवेअर कॉपी करू नका.

11. इतरांना छेडछाड करून, धमकी देऊन, असभ्य किंवा आक्षेपार्ह भाषा वापरून,अपमानास्पद किंवा द्वेषपूर्ण टिप्पण्या करून इतरांना धमकावू नका.

12. दुसऱ्याचा पासवर्ड तुमच्यासोबत शेअर केला असला तरीही वापरू नका.

13. इतर कोणत्याही ठिकाणी ईमेल वाचण्यासाठी लॉग इन करू नका तसेच इतरांचे मेल वाचण्यासाठी किंवा इतर कोणत्याही कारणासाठी त्यांच्या प्रोफाइलमध्ये गडबड करू नका.

14. दूसऱ्याच्या संगणकावर Login करू नका किंवा आपली माहिती अनोळखी व्यक्तीला देऊ नका.

15. अज्ञात लोकांना भेटू नका (जरी ते केवळ ऑनलाईन संवादातून ओळखले जात असले तरीही) एकट्या लोकांना भेटू नका.

16. अज्ञात स्त्रोताकडून कोणतेही Attachment उघडू नका किंवा डाउनलोड करू नका कारण त्यात व्हायरस असू शकतात.

     अशा प्रकारे आपण Internet चा वापर करताना वरील गोष्टीची काळजी घेतली तर नक्कीच आपली माहिती, गोपनीयता सुरक्षित राहिल. होणऱ्या परीणामापासून सुरक्षित रहाल.
